What is Green Power?

Power is defined as the amount of Energy produced per unit time. Wikipedia defines Green Energy as, "a term describing what is thought to be environmentally friendly sources of power and energy. Typically, this refers to renewable and non-polluting energy sources." The US DOE's Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy website describes Green Power as, "generally refers to electricity supplied in whole or in part from renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar power, geothermal, hydropower, and various forms of biomass." At Green Power Living we go even further to include usage of energy saving devices such as compact fluorescent lighting, Energy Star appliances, and hybrid (gas-electric) vehicles, for example.

How can I Adopt a Green Power Lifestyle?

The first step to adopting a Green Power Lifestyle is to make your home and vehicles as energy efficient as possible. The second step includes evaluating the options for purchasing or producing your own Green Power for your home, automobile, and lifestyle. Third, is the actual implementation of your Green Power solutions. The fourth and final step is proselytizing and evangelizing (advocacy & activism). That's right, you need to educate all of your neighbors, friends & family, and law-makers about the benefits of a Green Power lifestyle. According to recent climate change reports, we have about 10 years to begin switching over to clean energy, or we will suffer at the hands of our dependence on fossil fuels. Let's look at each these four steps in detail.

Step 1: Making your Home and Automobile Energy Efficient

Step 2: Buying or Producing Green Power

Step 3: Implementing Your Green Power Solutions

Step 4: Proselytizing & Evangelizing the Green Power Movement
